Policy for Online Exam Conduct

 

Dear Students,

This document includes guidelines for the exam environment and a personal declaration.

It is forbidden to copy or photocopy the questionnaire/questions*** ***

 Exam environment:

  • Your computer must have the Vix application installed according to the installation procedures of the company. Any attempt to bypass or override any of the Vix functions, to get assistance or to assist in such effort is strictly prohibited and may lead to severe disciplinary actions against all those involved.
  • Work environment: Students must be seated before their computer screens (with camera and microphone, and a single screen), which are placed on a desk in a quiet room in which no one else is present.
  • The exam will be monitored, photographed and recorded.
  • Lighting: The lighting in the student’s exam room must be of daylight brightness (ceiling light preferred).
  • Exam login: Students must log in to the exam classroom 45 minutes before exam start time and make sure that their video and audio devices are operating properly. During this time, a validation code will be sent via text message for entry into the exam. Latecomers will not be granted extra time.
  • The exam may be submitted 30 minutes after the start time of the exam.
  • Bar-Ilan or Tomax Technologies Ltd. have no access to private files on the computer on which the test is taken.
  • Use of cellphones, smart watches, earphones or any other electronic devices even if turned off (other than electronic dictionaries without internet access if approved in advance by the instructor), is forbidden during the exam.

If you need to use your phone for photographing or proctoring as part of exam guidelines, you will be notified of this explicitly.

  • At the start of the exam a dialogue box will open on your screen allowing to photograph your face and ID.  You may be asked by the system during the exam to verify your identity once again.
  • All software on your computer should be turned off for the exam except for the exam software itself.
  • Support material: Permitted support material must be placed exposed on your desk (calculator, dictionary, formula sheet, aid sheets, scrap paper, etc.).
  • Time limit for the exam is defined on the examinee’s card. Students eligible for extra time will receive their extension automatically.

students taking their exams at home may not take restroom breaks for exams that are up to two hours long. Pregnant students and students with specific medical problems who cannot meet this requirement, and students eligible for a time extension for exams that exceed two hours and wish to take advantage of that eligibility and also to leave to the restroom during the exam, must take their exams on the Tomax platform on campus-based Bar-Ilan computers. They will then be able to leave to the restrooms during the exam.

 

Binding personal declaration

I hereby agree to honor the trust placed in me in this online exam. I will answer the exam questions by myself without assistance from anyone else and will not use supplementary material that has not been approved in exam instructions, so that the exam will reflect my own personal knowledge and performance. I further agree to use the online test systems according to the procedures set by the university. Any deviation from that system or attempt to bypass the locking of the computer’s functions created by this system is considered a disciplinary offense. I am aware that I may be required by the instructor to explain some of my answers after the exam. I am aware that non-observance of said guidelines are a disciplinary offense, with all the consequences that it entails. It is clear to me that this is an honor-based exam and I agree to stand by it.
